4 Ways You Can Stay Active With Your Children
Looking for ways to stay active and keep your kids fit as well? Isn’t everyone though? Well, the good news is we’ve compiled a list of our 4 favorite ways to stay active with your children.
1. Adult/Child Classes
One of the best ways to exercise with your kids is to find adult/child classes. These are offered at all ages and they provide time where the two (or three, or four, or…) of you can put time aside to exercise. A lot of fitness classes can involve things you wouldn’t otherwise do, including swimming. These type of activities are fantastic for younger kids, as you can have some great bonding time with your kids through these classes.
One of the best classes I’ve taken with my little toddler is a multi-sport class. He got to learn a new sport each week and I got to teach him the skills that go along with each sport.
2. Pre or Post Dinner Exercise
We’ve all done it. You eat and then you sit down for the rest of the night. Before you know it, it’s bedtime and you’ve literally done nothing.
Instead of doing that, build a solid pre-post dinner workout routine with your kids. This works really well if you have a dog as well! Start getting into the habit of walking the dog before or after dinner is served. This helps because moving around before or after dinner will help raise your metabolism, your level of fitness and will help balance the food you eat with the exercise that you need.
This is another great activity to bond with your children, as you will also get time to catch up with one another before entering the end of your day. If you want to up the adventure, your kids can bike ride, skate board, or roller blade!
3. Be Fit During Commercial Breaks
If you and your kids love watching TV and movies, then you can use the commercial breaks to get in a little extra exercise. For example, a popular thing to do is a 1 minute clean. Once the commercial break starts, everyone springs into action and cleans up as much as possible. As well as moving around and getting some exercise in, you also help to teach good practices for every day cleaning.
And then you won’t spend your time cleaning! Win, win!
4. Team Up For Chores
Team up with your kids to get larger chores done. There are a lot of outdoor chores that you can do together like raking leaves, plowing snow, mowing the grass, and doing basic exterior upkeep. Find ways to make it fun and engaging to ensure their participation as well as your own. I know that when I bring my little guy out to work on something with me, he learns and we both enjoy ourselves, as well as each of us gaining exercise.
The 4 options we’ve listed above are just the beginning of what you can do with your kids. Along with our list, you could consider any myriad of activities. Some others like gardening, walking or running for charity, having a sports night every week where you all play a physical activity together, or even just being goofy together might work better for your family. Better yet, if you are looking to lose weight this summer, why not take up the opportunity to combine these exercises with a weight loss and supplement plan. Staying active with your kids doesn’t have to be boring. Become creative, use it to work alongside your other goals and be amazed at how many opportunities and achievements you can reach, all-awhile staying fit with your kids.
